Last year, in honor of the Mill Valley Library’s Centennial year, the Library partnered with local businesses during the month of September to increase library membership and promote the importance of shopping locally. The results were so fantastic that the Library decided to make "Your Library Card Saves You Cash" an annual program.
How it Works
Decide what kind of discount or special offer you would like to extend to Mill Valley Library card holders during the month of September.
The Library adds your business' name to our list of community partners.
The Library promotes "Your Library Card Saves you Cash", and in turn, your business will be promoted through:
Promotional emails sent to our 6000+ strong email list
A color brochure sent to every household in Mill Valley
A web-based mobile app for library patrons to find our Partners
More than 500 in-house calendars
Our high-traffic web site and social media outlets (Facebook & Twitter)

Last year, several of our community partners and many of their customers asked whether any donations would be given to the Library. In light of this, you can always give your customers the option to take advantage of a discount, or donate the amount of the discount to the Library.
Your participation in this month long program will bring your business' name to your target market, Mill Valley residents. More importantly it will bring customers to your business and let them know that you support the Mill Valley Library.
Examples of types of discounts could include:
- 10% off a purchase;
- spend $10.00 or more and get a free drink;
- 50% off a registration fee;
- $5 off every purchase of $10 or more, etc.
Of course, the greater the discount you extend, the more business will be driven your way. The choice is yours and it all depends on what would be cost effective for you.
