eReader Lending

Policies and Procedures

The library owns six Nook Colors that are available for checkout to Mill Valley patrons living in the 94941 zip code. Each eReader is pre-loaded with a variety of best selling fiction and non-fiction titles as well as several magazine and newspaper subscriptions. The purpose of the eReader Lending Program is to allow our patrons to explore and enjoy information in a new way.

Who Can Borrow?

eReaders may be borrowed by patrons 18 and over who live in the 94941 zip code and have a valid library card (no fines over $10.00, and the library card is not expired)

How Long?

eReaders circulate for 7 days. There are no holds and no renewals.

Fines

eReaders returned late, will be assessed a late fee of $5.00 per day for up to seven days.

Where Do I Return eReaders?

eReaders must be returned to a staff member of the Mill Valley Public Library at the Circulation Desk. It may not be returned to any other library or placed in a book drop. If it is returned to another library or placed in a book drop, a $25.00 fee will be charged to the borrower.

Lost or Damaged?

$250.00 will be assessed for lost or damaged eReaders; a fine of $25.00 will be assessed for lost or damaged usb power cords; $40.00 will be assessed for lost or damaged eReader covers; $10.00 will be assessed for lost eReader bags; $5.00 will be assessed for lost guides; and an additional $20.00 will be charged for processing of replacement items.

Loan Agreement

Patrons must sign an eReader Loan Agreement form before checking out an eReader.

acknowledge that by checking out a Nook Color eReader from the Mill Valley Public Library that I am responsible to pay replacement costs if the eReader or its parts are lost or damaged. I also agree to pay $5.00 per day for each day the eReader is overdue. I will not loan this eReader to another person. I acknowledge that the Nook Color must be returned to a staff person at the Mill Valley Library Circulation Desk and may not be placed in a book drop.
