What is the eReader Lending Program?

The library owns six Nook Colors that are available for checkout to Mill Valley patrons living in the 94941 zip code. Each eReader is pre-loaded with a variety of best selling fiction and non-fiction titles as well as several magazine and newspaper subscriptions. The purpose of the eReader Lending Program is to allow our patrons to explore and enjoy information in a new way.

Who may checkout an eReader?

Patrons 18 and over who live in the 94941 zip code and have a valid library card (no fines over $10.00, and the library card is not expired).

How long is the checkout period?

eReaders may be checked out for one week.

Fines

eReaders returned late, will be assessed a late fee of $5.00 per day for up to seven days.

May a hold be placed on an eReader?

No.

May an eReader be renewed?

No.

What if an eReader is returned late?

eReaders returned late, will be assessed a late fee of $5.00 per day for up to seven days.

Where should the eReader be returned?

The eReader must be returned to a staff member of the Mill Valley Public Library at the Circulation Desk. It may not be returned to any other library or placed in a book drop. If it is returned to another library or placed in a book drop, a $25.00 fee will be charged to the borrower.

What if the eReader is damaged or lost?

$250.00 will be assessed for lost or damaged eReaders; a fine of $25.00 will be assessed for lost or damaged usb power cords; $40.00 will be assessed for lost or damaged reader covers; and an additional $20.00 will be charged for processing of replacement items.

Can eBooks be downloaded to or deleted from the eReader?

No. All eContent is managed by library staff.

Why do I need to sign an eReader Loan Agreement?

Signing the Loan Agreement indicates that you understand and agree to follow our eReader Lending Policies, including any fees you may incur if a device is returned late, damaged or lost.
